Attorney Coltrain speaker at NCBA Construction Law Section Winter program

February 25, 2020

February 25, 2020 – RALEIGH, NC – Keith Coltrain was a co-speaker at the North Carolina Bar Association, Construction Law Section’s Winter CLE program held on February 20, 2020.

Keith spoke on the recent revisions to North Carolina’s Anti-Indemnification Statute (G.S. 22B-1), the history of why the changes were implemented, and the additional changes that might be explored in the future. North Carolina’s Anti-Indemnity Statute has long held that a promisee cannot enforce a contractual indemnity provision if the promisee is itself negligent. That Statute has now been revised to further impose restrictions on when defense obligations can be enforced.

The North Carolina Bar Association’s Construction Law Section provides continuing education and other benefits to its more than 500 attorneys who practice in the field of construction law.
