Trey Watkins Chosen to Serve on Judicial Qualifications Committee

April 27, 2012

CHARLESTON, SC – April 27, 2012 – Associate Trey Watkins was recently selected to serve on the Judicial Qualifications Committee (JQC). The committee is sponsored by the South Carolina Bar, and plays an important role in the screening process for our state’s judiciary.

The JQC will provide an initial screening of potential candidates to ensure that they meet the minimum qualifications for judicial vacancies in the administrative law judge division, the family court, the circuit court, the court of appeals, and the Supreme Court of South Carolina. The screenings will take place twice a year and consist of a two-stage process. Once the candidates are chosen by the JQC, the Bar publishes the Committee’s report and forwards it to the General Assembly to elect the individuals who will ultimately fill each vacancy.
